Genealogy has been my greatest passion since I discovered family history research in the 8th grade. We were asked to make our family trees and present them in class. When I went home that night I asked my dad what information he could give me. He replied that I could call my grandparents and ask them for their information. When I called my maternal grandmother she told me a story of lost love, political intrigue and a constant abolitionist. I was in awe. Why had no one in my family ever preserved these stories? Why wouldn’t we want to have access to these memories? What began as a short project for school has become my life’s devotion.
